What changed in each version of the Farwatch app. You can see which version you have on the Account tab, under “About”.
Version 1.0.0
The first release of Farwatch, for iPhone and Android.
Added
- Trip plans: who is going, the objective, the route, a starting point and map link, start, turnaround and expected-back times, how long after that a trip counts as overdue, and an emergency or search-and-rescue contact. Notes and file attachments carry everything else.
- Watchers: a plan is sent by email to people chosen from your contacts. Each one opens a private link, reads the plan, and confirms they have reviewed it, and you can see who has.
- You are told when a watcher's address cannot receive the plan.
- Marking yourself back safe, or cancelling a trip, tells every watcher the plan reached.
- A trip shows as overdue once its grace period has passed without you marking yourself back safe.
- Watchers can decline a plan, stop plans from one traveler, or stop Farwatch emails entirely, and undo each of those from the link.
- Dark mode, following the device's setting, in the app and on the watcher page.
- Deleting your account from the Account tab.
